Lisa Allen is a Detroit-area native who migrated to the much warmer, much sunnier South. She still calls herself a “car kid” and follows the automotive industry. After all, her grandfather, father and brother-in-law all worked for Chrysler.
Lisa thought about a career in the auto industry, but her father suggested it might not be the most stable of careers. Instead, Lisa got a journalism degree from Michigan State University. So much for stability. She’s watched newspapers shrivel up into near nothingness.
She started at The County Press in Lapeer, Mich., right out of college. She’s also worked for the Times-Herald (Port Huron, Mich.), Michigan Information & Research Service (Lansing, Mich.), Michigan United Conservation Clubs (Lansing), Sandy Corp. (Troy, Mich.), GMI-now-Kettering-University (Flint, Mich.), Allen Publishing Group (Anderson, Ind.), Marion Superior Court (Indianapolis), The Herald Bulletin (Anderson, Ind.), Beaufort Gazette/Island Packet (Beaufort/Hilton Head Island), self employed freelance writer (Beaufort).
She now is a business analyst for Primary Intelligence and a freelance business writer with clients in Pennsylvania and South Carolina. She also writes for the Golf Channel’s WorldGolf.com.
Along the way, she earned an MBA from the University of Michigan-Flint and has taught college classes in economics, labor relations and business communications.
Her goal is continue a discourse on best business practices.
